This was the response of an executive to the presentation I had just given on why the leadership needed to reduce the number of staff touchpoints a client must make before they could access our full scope of services. I was stunned. I had never expected that I would need to come up with an operational plan for how to action our organizational strategy, isn’t that someone else’s job?
What effect could I really have as a mid-level manager with the smallest team in the organization and no jurisdiction over the service-delivery area?
I didn’t know exactly how we were going to do it, but there was one thing I was SO SURE OF:
our organization had EVERYTHING IT NEEDED to overhaul our services to create sustainable change in clients lives based on the latest evidence, while keeping our client experience as our highest priority.

Our brains do not care about the deep connection that is required to fulfill our desire to be seen and known. Consciously or unconsciously, we face this tension between what we most deeply want and the level at which our brain operates most of the time. We need support to understand and manage this tension so that we can live the life we truly want to be living.
